Second graders in Demi Fogarty's class took a field trip to the Gateway Arch on Friday as part of their social studies unit on U.S. symbols and monuments. They have learned about U.S. monuments and symbols such as the Statue of Liberty, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Gateway Arch.
"[On Thursday], we Zoomed with Ranger Carl from the Arch,” Fogarty said. “He taught us about the Lewis and Clark Expedition and explained how the Gateway Arch honors all the explorers that set off to journey to the West.”
The Drummond Elementary students took a tram ride to the top, toured the museum and watched a documentary about the building of the Gateway Arch.

St. Louis District Dairy Council has partnered with dairy farmers in Illinois and Missouri to bring the Adopt-A-Calf School Program to classrooms. The no-cost program allows classes to “adopt” a calf from one of its farmers, name it, and receive monthly pictures and updates.
Fourth grade teacher Ginger Roberts has participated in the program for a few years.
“Our class named our cow Toast and she lives at Clover Farms which is a real farm in Illinois,” Roberts said.
The Pattonville Board of Education on Nov. 9 reviewed a new master facilities plan for Pattonville that adds classrooms to address growth in student enrollment; provides safety and maintenance improvements; and updates school facilities to meet current and future teaching and learning needs (see list below). If approved, the board would then ask voters to fund the new facilities plan by voting on a $111 million zero-tax-rate-change bond issue in April 2022. The board is expected to vote on the plan and funding mechanism during its Dec. 14 board meeting.
The Pattonville Community Action Team (PCAT) kicks off its second annual “Healing the Cove” series on Sept. 27 when Dr. Mary Ann Lingg provides insight and practical tips on how to help your child with anxiety.
