The Pattonville Board of Education on Dec. 14 approved asking Pattonville residents to vote on a $111 million zero-tax-rate-change bond issue on April 5, 2022 to fund a new master facilities plan for the district. The plan calls for adding classrooms to address growth in student enrollment; providing safety and maintenance improvements; and updating school facilities to meet current and future teaching and learning needs (see project lists below). Approval of the bond issue would not require an increase in the district tax rate.
Three Pattonville School District teachers earned their certification as a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT).
Drummond Elementary second grade teacher Ashley Burd and first grade teacher Amber Wilson each earned certification in Generalist/Early Childhood and Remington Traditional English learner specialist Michele Hill achieved certification in English as a New Language/Early and Middle Childhood Path 2.
NBCT is considered the gold standard in teacher certification and is designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide. Certification is awarded by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), and NBCTs can keep their certification active by completing a Maintenance of Certification (MOC) every five years.
We have already made it to the GROOVY 70th day of school! We are 70 days smarter!!
Second graders in Demi Fogarty's class took a field trip to the Gateway Arch on Friday as part of their social studies unit on U.S. symbols and monuments. They have learned about U.S. monuments and symbols such as the Statue of Liberty, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Gateway Arch.
"[On Thursday], we Zoomed with Ranger Carl from the Arch,” Fogarty said. “He taught us about the Lewis and Clark Expedition and explained how the Gateway Arch honors all the explorers that set off to journey to the West.”
The Drummond Elementary students took a tram ride to the top, toured the museum and watched a documentary about the building of the Gateway Arch.
